MILLER SCHOOL FAMILY FUN NIGHT ~ Thursday, January 19, 2017 Miller School Family Fun Night Bingo - January 19, 2017

Join us for the annual Miller School Family Fun Night on January 19, 2017 with lots of bingo games and raffle prizes.  Don’t forget to bring your extra pennies to use as markers and then donate them to Relay for Life, who will be sponsoring a bake sale during the evening.  We start playing at 7:00 p.m.  Please don’t forget to RSVP (with form below) by January 17th.

Join all your favorite animals from the DreamWorks movie hit Madagascar for a hilarious journey out of the zoo and onto the stage.  Madagascar Jr. will take place in the Aurora High School Auditorium on January 26th & 27th, 2017.  Tickets are $3 for students and $5 for adults with general admission seating.  Curtain time both evenings is at 7:00 p.m.  We hope to see you there.


EDUCATIONAL OPTIONS NIGHT ~ February 2, 2017 Educational Options Night - February 2, 2017

Students and parents in grades 6-11 are invited to an evening of information and discussion on course offerings beyond our college preparatory curriculum.  The Aurora High School Educational Options Night, hosted by the AHS Guidance Department, will take place on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium.  This program features information regarding Advanced Placement (AP), College Credit Plus (CCP) and other options that earn a student college credits.

The presentation will feature administrators, high school counselors and college representatives who will be on-hand to answer your questions and will include valuable information pertaining to these programs.  Please note the deadline for the College Credit Plus intent form is April 1st.  If you have further questions, please contact your student's counselor at Aurora High School or Harmon Middle School.

It’s time to think about the next school year already!  Miller Elementary School’s “Kick Off to Kindergarten” program for the upcoming Kindergarten class (Class of 2030) will be held at Miller School on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 beginning at 7:00 p.m.

This is an informational meeting for parents of students entering kindergarten for the 2017-18 school year and will outline the Kindergarten program and procedures for registering kindergarten students.  During this meeting parents will receive their registration packet with important dates, required documents needed and instructions on how to complete and return the registration papers.

In the Aurora School District, a child who is five on or before September 30th is eligible for Kindergarten. If you have any questions, please contact the Miller School office.


BOX TOPS CONTESTS TAKING PLACE IN JANUARY 2017 box top

During the month of January 2017, Box Tops contests will be running for grades K-8.  The elementary school students can turn Box Tops in at their school office.  Harmon School students can turn their box tops into their homeroom teacher or into the office with their name and homeroom attached.  Box Tops are always collected during the school year at all the school building offices and at the Aurora Memorial Library.


SCHOOL BOARD APPRECIATION MONTH ~ January 2017 board

The month of January 2017 was declared School Board Recognition Month by the Ohio School Board Association.  A special “THANK YOU” goes out to each of our school board members: Gerald Kohanski, President; Pam Mehallis, Vice President; Beverly Kuch,  Annie Grohe and Zena Elliott.  They each serve our community selflessly in order to make our district one of the top school districts nationally and in the State of Ohio.

JUNIORS TO TAKE STATE FUNDED ACT TEST IN MARCH 2017 ACT Test To Be Given To Juniors in March 2017

School districts and community schools must administer a state-funded college and career readiness test to juniors in the spring of 2017.  Aurora High School will be administering a state-funded ACT on March 21, 2017 at 7:40 a.m.  Juniors should remember to take care not to schedule appointments or college visits on this day.  


AURORA CITY SCHOOLS' TWO HOUR DELAY PROCEDURES delays

In accordance with the Aurora City School District’s Procedures for Emergency School Closing, the use of a delayed school opening may be utilized in the event of inclement weather.  As with school closings, the announcement of a school opening delay will be broadcast on television and radio stations and this announcement could begin as early as 5:00 a.m. To view each school buildings delayed start class schedules and the transportation adjustments that will be made when a two-hour delay is implemented, please click on the “Read More” link below.
