Circle with Drug Free in Middle and Twice Around the Sides in Grey

AHS SADD/Drug Free Club

‘18-’19 Ground Rules

The Drug Free Club is a new initiative at Aurora High School.  We appreciate your interest and commitment in being a part of it! The purpose of the club is to support and spread the message about the importance of living a drug and alcohol free lifestyle. Additionally, students joining the club “opt in” to random drug testing on a periodic basis. Students are then certified as “drug free” and can enjoy the benefits and incentives that come with this designation.

In order to be clear in communicating the basic expectations required to be an active member of the AHS Drug Free Club, it is important to specify the “ground rules” for the year.

  1. Students must return their “Opt In Form” and check for $10 prior to September 21st in order to be included in our club roster, which is established for random drug testing, as well as the incentives.

  2. Students agree to regularly attend and participate in all club meetings and activities, as well as support the club purpose.

  3. Students agree to participate in random drug testing, which will occur on a periodic basis during school throughout the school year.  Students will be called down to restrooms or locker rooms near the Varsity Gym by AHS administration/staff. The random names are established each testing date by the testing company, and sample collection/testing are completed by the testing company.  The school personnel role is to assist in the process of bringing students to the designated area and supervise the waiting area but NOT the actual sample collection or testing.

  4. In order to be considered a member of the club in good standing, students must have clean test results.  Otherwise, they cannot be certified as “drug free”.

  5. Any student with a non-negative (confirmed positive) test result will have their parents informed but have no school consequences other than club membership status.  The school point person (Principal) will be made aware if a student needs to have their good standing membership in the club revoked, although students with confirmed positive test results are able to remain in the random testing pool for future testing dates.  They are no longer eligible to participate in club activities, be certified as “drug free,” or enjoy the benefits/incentives of the club. A student refusing to test when called to do so will be considered a non-negative (confirmed positive) test result.

  6. There will be multiple incentives and benefits throughout the school year for club members with the biggest prize being eligibility for a drawing towards the end of the school year in which one lucky AHS Student (with a driver’s license) will win a 2 year lease of a new Chevy Equinox, courtesy of Ganley Chevrolet!  To be eligible for this drawing, students must be a Drug Free Club Member in good standing and have earned a PRIDE Card...by the way, ALL Drug Free Club Members will automatically earned a PRIDE Card from the Principal, but you can increase your odds by earning those cards in other ways as well!
