AURORA CITY SCHOOLS' TWO-HOUR DELAY PROCEDURES
In accordance with the Aurora City School District’s Procedures for Emergency School Closing, the use of a delayed school opening may be utilized if the situation dictates. The Aurora School District plans to use a two-hour school opening delay in the event of inclement weather. Under the two-hour delay, the school day will begin two hours later with the corresponding class period of the school day. The school day will end at the usual time.
A major part of the delayed school opening involves the transportation of students to school. Please be aware that when the Superintendent calls a two-hour delay, the following transportation adjustments will be made:
1.
All morning pick-up times for Aurora public and non-public school students will be two hours later than normal. If your student participates in the CLP, LEAP and ALS programs, this will also apply.
2.
Transportation
WILL NOT
be provided for the following morning special needs and/or vocational school programs:
·
All Excel Tech programs
·
CEVEC program
3.
There will be no AM Kindergarten and no AM preschool.
4.
All day Kindergarten will also be picked up two hours later. The PM Kindergarten and PM Preschool students will be picked up at normal times.
As with school closings, the announcement of a school opening delay will be broadcast on television and radio stations and this announcement could begin as early as 5:00 a.m.
