SPECIAL SERVICES PCF ~ Wednesday, September 27, 2017 Special Services Word over beige background

The Special Services Department will be holding this year’s first Special Services Parent Communication Forum (PCF) on Wednesday, September 27, 2017.  It will be held from 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. in the Leighton Media Center.

At 6:30 p.m., Christy Roshong will provide a brief review of the district's yearly allocation of federal funds related to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Attendees will have the opportunity to offer comments and feedback. This is a meeting the district is required to hold annually because we receive federal funds related to serving students with special needs.

From 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., district Occupational Therapist Alisa Deininger, will share her expertise on emotional wellness and the importance of developing the skill of self-regulation.  Participants will have the opportunity to learn about each physical/emotional state or "zone" a child can be in, and develop strategies that can be used to help a child learn self-control and self-care of their behavior and emotions.  This is Alisa's follow-up to her PCF presentation last year.  We are excited to dive deeper into this topic this school year!
