Office of Pupil Services
The Office of Pupil Services of the Aurora City School District is committed to advancing the district’s strategic vision of preparing Aurora Learners to be Future-Ready by providing a comprehensive continuum of student support services. The department is dedicated to ensuring that all students receive equitable access to the resources, specialized instruction, and individualized supports necessary to achieve their highest potential in academic, social, emotional, and behavioral domains.
Operating within the frameworks of federal and state regulations, the Office of Pupil Services oversees the planning, coordination, and delivery of the following specialized services and programs:
Development and implementation of individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities, ensuring compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Ohio Operating Standards.
Administration of comprehensive evaluations, behavioral and mental health supports, intervention planning, and consultation with educators and families to promote student well-being and academic success.
Consultation, assessment, and implementation of evidence-based behavioral interventions and supports to address social-emotional, behavioral, and functional skill development, while promoting positive student outcomes.
Delivery of school-based mental health counseling and crisis intervention services that support the emotional well-being, coping skills, and overall mental health of students in collaboration with families and community providers.
Delivery of school-based health services including medication administration, chronic condition management, health screenings, emergency care, and collaboration with families and medical providers to support student health and safety.
MTSS is a system schools use to help all students succeed by providing the right level of support based on each child’s needs. Teachers and staff closely monitor progress and adjust instruction or interventions as needed to support learning, behavior, and emotional growth. The goal of MTSS is to work together with families to help every student reach their full potential in school.
Coordination and implementation of accommodation plans under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act to ensure equal access to educational opportunities for students with qualifying disabilities.
Targeted language acquisition instruction and academic support for students whose primary language is not English, facilitating full participation in the general education curriculum.
Provision of educational stability, advocacy, and access to resources for students experiencing homelessness, in accordance with the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act.
Through strategic collaboration with district leadership, building administrators, instructional staff, families, and community agencies, the Office of Pupil Services upholds the district’s mission to cultivate an inclusive, supportive, and high-performing educational environment that prepares all Aurora students for future success.
